Meggers: Thanks man. Tour went really well, despite a few things, we had a blast. Ventured into some new territory, played some great shows and met some really cool people. DS: A full-on riot broke out at your show in Costa Rica. What the hell happened? So apparently this is what happened. We started playing, venue was packed, and us and the kids inside were stoked. Someone outside smashed one of the windows. They then cut out the PA.
They then shut off all the power and they made us leave the venue. Kids, some who paid, and others who were outside were pissed off. They then smashed up the entire club. I mean nothing was left after an hour. Every piece of equipment, bottle of booze, windows.. They should have just let the kids outside in for free, we could have finished our set and everyone would have been happy. Riot police showed up and cleared out the streets but all the damage had already been done.
DS: You said that you want to go back to Costa Rica and play a complete set, make it up to those that got their show disrupted. Is that something you guys will actively pursue or are you guys just open to the idea of playing there again?
Meggers: The tour went really well, so yes, we definitely want to come back. We met a lot of the fans that day, and all the promoters and such were super cool and treated us well. So I really hope we can go back sometime this year. Meggers: I did know them a for awhile before joining the band. They both lived with Jorge and we practiced at the same spot, so I became friends with the band.
He said they were thinking about getting a new drummer and asked if I would be interested? We were mixing Jack Daniels and rum. We thought it was the greatest, funniest, fastest song we ever wrote. We then forgot about it. Then, I played it a few days later for everyone. I was crying laughing and everyone was just looking at me like, "What the fuck is wrong with you, and please turn this God awful shit off.
I went to send it to Zeuss and deleted it. Trust me, it's a good thing that it is just a hilarious memory. The title still rules though, I think. I skateboard. Maybe not as "talented" as I was as a wee young lad, but I can hang. He taught his dog Oscar how to steal cans of beer. The Casualties will release Resistance on Sept. Meggers: We all get inspired by different things as we are four different people.
It can be inspiration from a new or older band. Inspiration from friends and family. And inspiration of what is going on in our world. What truly inspired the title track, is that we realized how great it was that we have been able to resist mainstream society and truly live our lives the way we want to. We call our own shots and think for ourselves. Why did you pick My Blood.
My Life. Always Forward. Meggers: Because the songs kicks ass. It's a short rant on how people drink to forget how shitty life can be, but no matter what you'll always have to keeping looking and moving forward and hope for the best. Will you be shooting a music video for that song or any other song off this album? Meggers: We will be shooting a video very soon hopefully.
And yes, it will most likely be for "My Blood. Do you have any other side projects happening? Meggers: Nope. Always try to keep the Casualties as my main focus. What does The Casualties have planned between now and the end of this year? Meggers: We have a few shows in the US coming up.
